What's the Training Contract Journey?
Training Contract Process
With so many firms doing things differently, we wanted to stop and take a look at our Training Contract journey from beginning to end.
CV & application form
This is your first opportunity to show us who you are. Your CV and application form should demonstrate why you'd be a great addition to our team.
Once you’ve completed your application form, we will add any extra details we have (such as attendance at our events) to help create a better picture of who you really are.
You can find more tips about our application process here.

Written assessment
If you've been successful at CV and application form stage, you'll be invited to the written assessment stage. This is the first time you’ll get the chance to show off your legal knowledge.
In the invitation we will typically give you a weeks notice and let you know the expected date of the assessment. On the day of the assessment, we will send you the details via email with questions in a PDF attachment. This is usually sent around lunch time on the Friday with a deadline of Monday at 9am.
This is one of the reasons we're keen to find out about any neurodiversities or reasonable adjustments you may need. At this stage we will check in again to see if there's anything we can do to make the process better for you (extra time etc.).

Assessment centre
Congratulations for getting this far; it’s not always easy and we appreciate the hard work that everyone puts in whether they reach this stage or not.
Our assessment centres are designed to bring the best out of you; we keep our sessions small, inviting only 6-10 people to ensure that you're not lost in the crowd and have every opportunity to shine.

When you arrive, our fantastic reception team will greet you and make sure you have time to relax and take a moment before the assessment centres start. The recruitment and HR team will then invite you in to the assessment centre and begin the session.
You will be asked to take part in a group task, deliver a group presentation, and you'll have the opportunity during the session to quiz some current Trainees. Finally you'll be invited to an short interview with a member of the HR team.
There's nothing to prepare and we'll provide you with everything you need to take part in the session.

Partner Panels
This is the final stage of the Training Contract application process. During this stage you'll be interviewed by 3 Partners who represent different areas of law.
When you arrive, you’ll be greeted by a friendly face and given some time to relax and take a moment before we introduce you to the Partners.
The Partner Panels last up to one hour; they're looking to find out more about your experiences, your personality and what you could bring to the Firm.
This is your final opportunity to show that you've done your research on the Firm (and the Partners). Make sure you do your preparation but be aware you will need to think on your feet!
Take this chance to show off your suitability for the role, and your passion for law and Geldards.
