Training Contracts at Geldards

Training Contract opportunities at Geldards

The quality and size of our client base means our Trainee Solicitors work on a wide range of cases and can therefore build expertise in many areas of the law.

Our Cardiff Solicitor Training Contracts are now open for the 2026 cohort! Applications will stay open until the 17th of November but we recommend applying as soon as possible so you don't miss out.

In the Midlands we’re reviewing different ways of bringing people into the business and making sure we can provide the right opportunities at the right time. As such we’re not currently recruiting for Trainees, but please keep an eye on our website for more information on Paralegal and Legal Administrator roles as they come up.
As a full-service law firm we offer seats in the more traditional areas such as Commercial, Corporate, Private Client, Family etc.; we're also fortunate enough to have experts within teams such as Infrastructure and Construction, Charity Law and more...

With responsibility from day one, our Trainees are trusted to work on real life cases with real life clients. This provides a stimulating setting in which to grow and thrive.

We look for talented, passionate individuals. Current trainees who have completed an LPC have undertaken four six-month seats throughout the two year Training Contract; a dedicated supervisor is allocated in each seat to support the Trainee and regular meetings are held to discuss development needs and opportunities.
We're looking forward to making the most of the opportunities that are presented by the SQE and will be considering this alongside the LPC.

If you are self-funding the full SQE and are just looking for a period of qualifying work experience rather than the an opportunity to undertake different areas of law all of our Paralegal roles are QWE eligible so please do apply to these.

The best way to stay up to date with our opportunities is to follow us on social media. We'll be sharing lots of hints and tips over the next few weeks whilst the applications are open to give you a better insight into the process and how you can stand out.

If you've already heard enough though feel free to apply now!

What's it really like?

It's always hard to get a culture into a website so we wanted to share some of our podcasts from Trainees for you to hear more about what it's really like to work with us and in different areas of law across the business!

What's the benefit to doing a Training Contract at Geldards?

We work hard, but we also know you have a life outside the office; that’s why we offer a great benefits package, not just a competitive salary.

This is your opportunity to learn and grow, and we want to support you with the standard benefits of a role as well as some Training Contract specific support - find out more about our standard benefits (and what to expect after qualification) on our Legal Careers page.

Supervisors

Throughout your Training Contract you'll be supported in a number of ways.
The main day to day contact will be your supervisor. They will be an expert in your area of law who will support and supervise you throughout your time in the seat.

Consistent reviews

In each seat, you will have a mid-seat and an end-of-seat review - this is your chance to discuss your progress and your development needs.

Supportive Trainee cohort

We're delighted to be able to say our Trainees are very supportive of each other. You'll have an initial induction week where you will spend the week getting to know your cohort - after that our Trainees continue to work closely together.

HR catch ups

We want to support you as much as we can; we'll stay in touch with you regularly to keep up to date with how you're doing. We'll also try and help to match your interests with our business needs when it comes to the seat rotations...

Graduate recruitment

Once you've been through the process yourself, you'll have the opportunity to get involved in the other side of graduate recruitment.
We're keen to get Trainees involved with University events and Training Contract recruitment - who better to let prospective Trainees know what to expect than our own Trainees..?

Learning & Development

Our L&D team are always looking for the best way to support your development.
Alongside the Professional Skills Course, our L&D team are passionate about finding you additional opportunities to develop your skills and your career.
